Within the next few weeks the United States will visibly pursue a three-pillar strategy in Iran: decapitation of leadership, aerial bombardment, and arming and bribing ethnic insurgent groups.
Prof Jiang Xueqin said this on 5 March 2026. Our assessment, on the public evidence linked below, is partial.
What Prof Jiang Xueqin said
“these are the three main pillars of the American strategy. And you're going to see this over the next few weeks”
Our assessment
All three pillars were publicly visible within weeks of the 5 March claim: decapitation continued with the 18 March killing of national security chief Ali Larijani and Basij head Gholam Reza Soleimani, the air campaign ran without pause until the 8 April ceasefire, and CIA arming of Iranian Kurdish groups was reported from 3 March with Trump saying on 5 March he would be all for a Kurdish offensive. The weakest element is the bribing part, for which no payment record was found, and no Kurdish offensive actually materialised by 29 April. On review: Three pillars were claimed and two and a half are evidenced. Decapitation and the air campaign are documented; the arming half of the third is reported, the bribing half has no payment record and no Kurdish offensive materialised by the deadline. Confirmed would give full credit for a claim that named three things and delivered two.
